Acupuncture Treatment in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai

Very fine needles placed at specific points on the body to ease pain and support the body’s own healing.

Acupuncture is a system of therapy that has been practised for more than two thousand years. Very fine needles are placed at chosen points on the body. The aim is to ease pain, relax tight muscles and support the body’s own ability to settle and recover.

At Divya Sparsh Acupuncture, treatment is given by a registered acupuncture practitioner. It is drug-free, and it can be taken alongside the treatment your doctor has prescribed.

How acupuncture works

Acupuncture points lie along pathways that traditional practice calls meridians. Modern research suggests that stimulating these points affects nerves, muscles and connective tissue, and changes how the body processes pain signals.

The research is strongest for long-standing pain: back and neck pain, knee osteoarthritis, shoulder pain and headaches. For many other conditions acupuncture is used as supportive care, to help with symptoms and general wellbeing while medical treatment continues.

What a session is like

The first visit starts with a conversation: your complaint, how long you have had it, your medical history, reports and current medicines. This decides which points are used.

You then lie or sit comfortably while the needles are placed. Most people feel a brief prick, followed by a dull, heavy or warm sensation around the point. The needles stay in place while you rest.

The number of sessions depends on the condition and how long it has been present. This is discussed with you after the first assessment, not decided in advance.

Questions about acupuncture

Is acupuncture painful?

The needles are far thinner than injection needles. Most people feel a small prick and then a dull or warm sensation. If anything is uncomfortable, tell the practitioner and the needle is adjusted or removed.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the condition and how long you have had it. Recent problems often need fewer sessions than long-standing ones. You will be given an honest estimate after the first assessment.

Should I stop my medicines?

No. Acupuncture is taken alongside your medical treatment. Do not stop or change any prescribed medicine without speaking to your doctor.

Is there anyone who should not have acupuncture?

Please tell the practitioner if you are pregnant, have a bleeding disorder, take blood thinners or have a pacemaker. The treatment is adjusted, or a needle-free method such as acupressure or sujok is used instead.
